I have not run since Monday. :-((
Ankle is weak and sore. Sort of puffy on outer side.
Ace wrap in my future and then back at it. I don't want to lose ground.
Grrrrrrr I suspected this project might kill me, but I wasn't looking to get lamed up first.
Hi, it's Sarah. I posted a comment earlier, but I think I lost connection and lost the whole post! I wanted to applaud you for not getting discouraged! You're doing such a great job. I also wanted to share my own experiences because they might be helpful. I started this app for the first time year before last and ended up injuring myself in the 7th week. Not only could I not run, I couldn't walk! I went to physical therapy for 6 months. What I learned was that my shoes were the culprit, combined with over-exercising. I was exercising 6 days a week and the shoes I wore weren't supporting my weight & gait correctly. This time around, I'm sticking to the 3 days/week and swimming 2 times/wk. I learned that my body actually needs the time to recover. I also am using Reebok trainers this time around. I think they're called traintones. They have these huge air pockets underneath and they're supposed to tone. They're like running in sand, but the cushion is fabulous for my 258 pounds of thigh, rear and generously lovable figure! But, I have a bunch of friends who run distances competitively and they swear by the Running Room and Run N Fun stores. They scope out your form on a mill and help fit you with the right shoes. I think if your ankle is injured, you may want to invest in a shoe picked out by a specialist. They only charge for the shoe. If you're ever in the city, I'd love to go with you. I've never been, but if I keep this running up, I'll be due for shoes soon!
ReplyDeleteWell, keep up the good work lady! It's so nice to know someone else on this path. I want to lose 100 pounds...but I'm not setting a deadline. I want to make sure I establish a lifestyle that is real to what I'm capable of maintaining and fun!
